Grapevine problem…few small leaves & parts dying off after many years of healthy growth..?
Posted in: Grape Growing by admin on June 22, 2010
For many (approx 15) years my grapevine (concord) was growing great.. lots of big green leaves, piles of grape clusters, & this year a fraction of leaves which are half the size & no grapes yet. A virus?? bad weather? But it went thru so many seasons & was so vigorous til this year. Love my vine & if can treat it will do so. Hope someone out there knows the sublime vine & its problems.
If you suspect a plant disease (because you will know if it has be adequately watered etc.) the best thing you could probably do is find a local university that has a plant disease diagnostic clinic. If it is pathogen related they will be able to tell you what would be the most effective spray for you to use. They will usually have a website that explains the price and how they want their samples submitted. Good luck with your vine I hope you can save it.
